I grew up in the South of Italy. My dad was really into personal computers, a new thing back then. But innovation is tricky, and it led to some tough financial times for us, including my dad's business going bankrupt. This really shaped my childhood, teaching me how important it is to have financial security. I saw how quickly money situations can change and how much they affect a family. These challenges made me strong. The support of my family pushed me to study hard and earn a scholarship in finance. My education was about more than just learning; it was about empowering myself to survive and thrive. I learned a lot from the good and the bad times. One big lesson was that having financial freedom means you get to make your own choices. It's about standing on your own, even when things get tough. Later, I worked in investment banking in London. There, I saw unfair things like for example the gender pay gap. These experiences opened my eyes and pushed me years later to leave my stable job for something more exciting – starting my own business. I wanted the freedom to make my own choices and help others do the same. The journey wasn't always smooth. After returning to the corporate world following my first pregnancy, I encountered a kind of hostile environment. It felt as if I was being punished simply for becoming a mother. But in a twist of fate, this challenge turned out to be a blessing. It gave me the courage to leave and fully dive into being an entrepreneur. This tough moment actually helped me make a big, positive change in my life. I often wished I had someone to guide me about starting to invest money early. I wish someone had told me that even starting small can lead to big growth over time, thanks to compound interest. I want to be that person for you through Centsational Chats and Cent of a Woman. Sosteniamo infatti una zona 'senza vergogna' qui. Questo significa che non vi faremo sentire in colpa per le decisioni finanziarie passate. La vita è troppo breve per questo. Siamo qui per aiutarvi a fare scelte intelligenti sul denaro, senza che stiate a preoccuparvi delle piccole cose. Ma prima, lasciate che vi parli un po' di me, così saprete chi vi parlerà in questi episodi. Sono cresciuta nel Sud Italia. Mio padre era molto appassionato di computer, una novità all'epoca. Ma l'innovazione è complicata e ha portato a tempi finanziari difficili per noi, incluso il fallimento della sua azienda. Questo ha davvero plasmato la mia infanzia, insegnandomi quanto sia importante avere una sicurezza finanziaria. Ho visto quanto rapidamente le situazioni finanziarie possano cambiare e quanto influenzino una famiglia. Queste sfide mi hanno resa forte. Il sostegno della mia famiglia mi ha spinto a studiare sodo e a guadagnare una borsa di studio in finanza. La mia istruzione era più che mero apprendimento; era potenziamento per sopravvivere e crescere. Ho imparato molto dai tempi buoni e cattivi. Una grande lezione è stata che avere libertà finanziaria significa poter fare le proprie scelte. È stare in piedi da soli, anche quando le cose si fanno difficili. Più tardi, ho lavorato nel settore bancario a Londra. Lì, ho visto cose ingiuste come, ad esempio, il divario salariale di genere. Queste esperienze mi hanno aperto gli occhi e mi hanno spinto, anni dopo, a lasciare il mio lavoro ben pagato e stabile per qualcosa di più eccitante - avviare la mia attività. Volevo la libertà di fare le mie scelte e aiutare gli altri a fare lo stesso. Il viaggio non è stato sempre facile. Dopo essere tornata nel mondo aziendale dopo la mia prima gravidanza, ho incontrato un ambiente ostile. Sembrava che venissi punita semplicemente per essere diventata madre. Ma in un colpo di fortuna, questa sfida si è rivelata una benedizione. Mi ha dato il coraggio di lasciare e di tuffarmi completamente nel mondo dell’imprenditoria. Questo momento difficile mi ha effettivamente aiutato a fare un grande cambiamento positivo nella mia vita. Spesso avrei voluto che qualcuno mi guidasse su come iniziare a investire prima il mio denaro. Avrei voluto che qualcuno mi dicesse che anche partire con piccole somme può portare ad una grande crescita nel tempo, grazie all’interesse composto.
